How to connect RDS Instance to PhpMyAdmin on Amazon Linux EC2

This tutorial explains how to connect RDS Instance to PhpMyAdmin on Amazon Linux EC2.

Prerequisite

You must have PhpMyAdmin Installed already.

  1. Login to SSH
sudo -i

2. Open the Config file

sudo nano /etc/phpMyAdmin/config.inc.php # Amazon Linux Centos

sudo nano /etc/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php # Ubuntu Linux

3. Find the following lines in config.inc.php:

/*

* End of servers configuration

*/

4. Append the following lines above the “End of servers configuration” line:

$i++;
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] = 'rdshippocabs.koh.ap-south-1.rds.amazonaws.com'; //amazon host address
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['port'] = '3306';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['verbose'] = 'localhost';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['connect_type'] = 'tcp';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['extension'] = 'mysql';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['compress'] = TRUE;

5. Test it with PhpMyAdmin
